On Family Lineage
飲水思源 — “When drinking water, remember its source.”
In today’s hyper-individualistic culture, where self-made success is often celebrated, it can be easy to forget that we are expressions of family lineages stretching back across generations.
We inherit far more than genetics.
We inherit stories, survival strategies, wounds, values, gifts, silences, aspirations, and ways of relating to the world. In many ways, our lineage lives within us — through both biology and epigenetics, but also through patterns of identity, emotion, and meaning-making.
For those engaged in inner work, leadership, or coaching, family lineage can become a profound area of inquiry. Understanding where we come from can illuminate both our deepest strengths and the unconscious patterns we carry.
We are not separate from our lineage, but a living bridge between ancestry and future generations.
