Meta Awareness
The ability to observe and reflect on one's own thoughts, feelings, and sensations, rather than simply experiencing them.
I was reading Erica Ariel Fox's book on Winning from Within. We have internal roles that we play in our head - Dreamer, Thinker, Warrior, Lover. Which are the prominent roles in your inner theater? Are particular roles over or under-expressed?
What's more important, is our ability to adaptively choose which role to play in which situation. This calls into play meta awareness elements such as:
> Being the observer - Is my inner state expanded or contracted?
> Applying conscious choice as the director - Which inner role(s) would align with my intentions for this situation?
> Sense making as the pathfinder - What is the broader arc / meaning here? What are the possibilities?
What's your favourite way to build up these meta awareness muscles?
